Emigration abroad
During the 19th and 20th centuries some members of the Monarca family decided to leave Italy and move to other countries. Some of them remained for the rest of their lives in the new country, founding a new family there.
As a matter of fact, today in the U.S.A. there are Monarca descended from the branches of Canale Monterano, Sessa Aurunca, Melilli and others. The Monarca moved to various U.S. states, among them New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
- In Brazil (São Paulo) there are descendants of the Bevagna/Assisi branch.
- In Argentina there are descendants of the Naples and Sessa branches.
- In Australia there are descendants of the Sessa/Roccasecca, Cosenza, Naples and Porto Recanati branches.
Some Monarca also settled in France, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland. In France the branches of Bevagna, Melilli and Naples were present.
Others, on the contrary, decided to return to Italy after having lived for some years abroad, in countries such as Great Britain, Argentina, Brazil and the U.S.A.
